Just a post to see how many people are in the same boat. I go back to work part time next week following maternity and I am not looking forward to it. I have been looking for something else the past few months and had a couple of offers which I've had to turn down due to the hours not working around the children or money not being enough. So how many other out there are staying in a job because its convenient it you aren't nessisarily happy?

I'm the same. My job is boring and there are no decelopment opportunites but I stay becaise I am piad well for what I do, its close to home, the hours suit me and the boss is understaning about having to take time off at short noice.

If I didn't have children I definietly wouldn't be here but as long as my son is my top priority this is where I will stay. I have put a lot of time and energy in to finding something else and have even had other offers but ultimately I haven't found anything that is a better fit for family life.

@SascaHendrick yes this is my exact reasons aswell. Also the team I work with are amazing and understand as have all previously had children aswell. I've done the job 10 years and it's changed a lot of their the last couple years and just isn't the same anymore but all the time I've spent job hunting nothing is as convinient. I would love a new start and and a new challenge but I definitely feel this needs to go in hold until both children are in school full time and I need to ride this our for a few years

I stayed in my last job because I wanted mat pay for a second child. It took longer to conceive than I thought. It was a mistake. My career totally stagnated for three years. I'm self employed now (quit after that mat leave) and things are much better.

Yep. It would be hard to get the fixed days part time somewhere else so easier to stay put.
