I've just had surgery. Estimated time off work and told employer. On my last day prior to surgery they said that perhaps I could see how I go and maybe come back in the last week. This makes me feel pressured to return as we are at a crucial point in the work that I do. I asked the hospital for a fit note. A box is ticked saying I would benefit from a phased return and lists the duration as being from surgery date. Can work pressure me to return within that period or should I see a GP to
get a fit note stating I'm not fit for work?. I just don't want the pressure of having to return until I'm ready. I've never really been sick before let alone surgery so have no idea how this works and what my rights are.
