Two job offers

I'm a lone parent of two disabled children. I'm not entirely sure how wrap around care will go and I haven't worked in 5 years due to oldest DC especially.

I'm climbing the walls to return to work and I've been offered two jobs

Job A

37.5 hours a week, 9-5 5 days a week. Demanding role, also involves uni study and has a lot of progression prospects.

Job B

18.5 hours a week, mostly school hours. Admin role and not huge progression opportunities.

Both civil service.

Job A including UC support I'd bring home £3272. I'd then lose £700 for childcare and dog care so would balance out at £2572

Job B including UC support I'd bring home £2644 a month

My heart says Job A, its exciting and interesting. It has progression. My head says Job B, I haven't got to worry as much re child care, it is safe and stable.

It just feels immoral to take such a part time role and I really want the first job. It feels a bit dream job, wrong timing.

What would others do?

Job A. Make a real effort to make impact and relationships for a year and then apply for flexible working with a solid plan if possible. If it all goes wrong.... Well you are obviously very employable to get 2 good offers! So if you have to, re think and cut down. If job A sounds exciting and full of opportunity you should at least give yourself a fair shot at it. Good luck op. Come back and update on what you do won't you
