I’m panicking here and just looking for advice.
So I just started a new job in a nursery last week, I have already worked in nurseries for years and nearly 4 weeks ago I applied for a new dbs as my previous one expired.
I told my new job that I am on the dbs update system which I am, however my new dbs was still processing at the time. A couple of days into my new job the manager let me know that she’s checked the update system for my dbs and I can now be left alone with the children and change nappies etc.
Today (my day off) the manager has sent me an email asking me to bring in my certificate tomorrow. I haven’t got the certificate yet, and I decided to check the tracker for my dbs which says it is still processing and so hasn’t came back yet?! When the manager said she’d checked I assumed it must have come back, so I’m not sure what has happened here.
I’m going to give her a call today, but I’m panicked as I’ve already been working as though I have the dbs check back. I know the nursery won’t mind me working without one, it just means I can’t be left alone etc.
Do you think this will go down bad when I call and be a big problem? I don’t think it was entirely wrong of me to assume the check had come back when the manager told me she checked and all was good, however obviously I should have checked myself.
Am I overreacting here?
