Civil service interview tips

I have a job interview! It's scheduled for 1.5 hours with an assessment that I'll be told something about in advance. It's not civil service but is very similar (non departmental gov body) and I believe uses the same system so any advice appreciated. I worked at the organisation before but several years ago and in a different function, as I've since retrained.

I had to provide answers to 4 competency based questions for the application using STAR. Should I refer to those again (they are my best examples) or should I come up with new ones (not as stellar but showing I'm no one trick pony)?

How can I get ahead of internal candidates who will know all the systems?

Can I refer to the competency framework in the interview, or would that be frowned on? It's much shorter than the full civil service one.

I've done quite a few weird and wonderful things in my time but I know if I go too left field I lose my audience. Should I play it safe?

I would love the job, as dream jobs go it's incredibly geeky but we were made for each other. Any advice gratefully received.

Structure all answers around the STAR format spending most time talking about your actions… don’t say ‘we’, say ‘I’…. Talk about the results your actions had and how this was measured, e.g. since putting the scheme in place we had 10% uplift in registration.
