Should I still go for the Internal Post?

Due to have an internal interview. Line manager contacted me, asking if I could go to the office as wanted me to meet the external candidate who had already had the first stage interview. I and a couple of others would meet the candidate , to see if they are a fit for the team.
Note, I have not had the first stage interview yet and I am already doing the role. I knew there was a possibility I would not get this role, but I feel completely deflated now.

Have you got an interview scheduled?
Just use it as fuel to prove you're the better candidate?

Don’t feel deflated, you already do the role so you are already at an advantage. At my place of work we have yearly contracts so “our jobs” are always applied for by external candidates, sometimes it’s a tick box exercise and other times it’s because management aren’t happy with the set up. How many of you are applying?
