Civil Service Future Leaders Scheme - anyone applied/done it before?

I’ve been successful at the first application stage for this year’s Future Leaders Scheme (yay) and have an interview booked for next month. Is anyone else going through the process and looking for someone to chat about it with - or has anyone been through the application process/been on the programme previously? How have you found it if so?

Good luck. I’m a civil servant. What grade is that scheme? Is it like a fast track?

Thanks @Darbs76! It’s an intensive development scheme for grade 6s and 7s, intended to be prep for SCS basically. You have the same cohort for two years and do e.g. leadership residentials, masterclasses and so on together, so a bit like the fast stream for further down the line. All the literature emphasises that it’s very competitive, so I’m a bit nervous about the interview (especially as it’s quite opaque in terms of the format - it’s not competencies and they advise you not to prepare structured answers, but to think about your own purpose/values/motivation etc).

Oh fab, sounds really good. I’ve just got my G7 promotion so maybe something to think of in a year or two. Sounds really good.

@Darbs76 I’ve only been a grade 7 for five minutes (had eight months in post before going on maternity leave which I’m still on) so if you apply next year you’ll have more grade 7 experience than me. We should chat again then if you decide to, as I’ll either be on the scheme or reapplying
