My background is accounting in investment banks. I am now retraining to work for a corporate in some accounting related role. However I cannot decide which role or industry to focus on.

I am interested in renewable energy and the software services industries. In terms of roles I could become a finance manager, financial planning analyst or become a data analyst.

All these interest me so I would like opinions on which industry and which role will pay the most and/or have more opportunities? I will be investing so much time and effort to learning new skills / software so I need to know I am maximizing my potential, especially as I am now mid forties so no time to waste.

I always thought accountancy generally paid highest in financial services, so the industry you are moving from! (I have worked in this area for thirty years). Other than that, I would not have thought any industry would be paying significantly more for those tho of roles versus another industry. I would probably just pick one that interest you.
