Should I take training days as a work day when P/T?

I'm P/T in a senior role, working 3 days a week (usually Mon-Wed) with flexibility.

The company has booked in a couple of on-site training days on Fridays.

Would people in my situation generally assign these Fridays as work days, or attend them on top of their usual 3 days' work?

I will also ask the folks at work btw, just keen to hear what the usual is!

I’d make Friday my working day that week, unless I was so busy that I couldn’t take time out to do training in my normal hours, in which case it would have to be an extra day.

My work would consider these as a work day & take a different day off instead.

  • Swap the work days
  • Time in lieu added to holidays

Otherwise you are working for free while FT are being paid and IMO that would sets a poor expectation /example for lower paid employees.

Yes, either swap or TOIL here.

Swap or toil.

I'd take a day off in lieu of working those Fridays.

Who else/how many others is this training day for? Any other part-timers? How was that day picked?

skilpadde · 13/06/2022 16:25

Swap your work days, or claim the training days as TOIL. Definitely don't do the training days in your own time.

Darbs76 · 16/06/2022 19:21

I’d swap your non working day, or claim overtime If allowed and that’s what your preference is
