I had to leave my last job because of my hearing (I've posted about it before). I'm lucky enough that I can afford to retrain but I have no real clue what I would like to do. I have just passed a project management course at the foundation level and I'm signed up to do the higher level but I think it's more suitable for technical projects than research projects which would interest me more. I took a career break with my children and then took jobs to fit around them which tended to be lower level than pre children. I've worked mainly in local government which I've found severely frustrating. I've also some limited experience in museums and as a TA. Please suggest something other than civil service. Are my expectations too high? I've been bored out my mind in most jobs. I have two masters in arts subjects but my degree class was only a 2:2. I like academia but with my class of degree I don't think I stand a chance even though I went to Oxbridge.
