What type of job is it? I started as a band 4 in admin and took about 5 weeks from offer to starting. They emailed the 2 people (former employers) and they just confirmed my working dates, salary and how many days off sickness I had in previous 2 years?

@FitAt50 its admin band 4 too. That’s not too bad I was thinking it might take months. Did you have a DBS

No DBS for this role - I was a rota co-ordinator (did jnr doctors rotas and booked agency staff etc).

In my trust approx 3 months till start date. Its crazy slow.

What is your notice period? I just hire someone in a non patient facing role and it took 3 weeks as they had no notice, and their reference responded quickly.

Nursinsince2013 · 05/06/2022 12:59

@jellybeans thats crazy but I’m kind of expecting that as I’ve heard it before.

i have 1 months notice period to give, but won’t give notice until references and dbs has cleared, I think that’s what they said at the interview.

It took up to 6 months in my old Trust but 3 weeks in my current Trust - there’s no standard pattern unfortunately! Definitely don’t hand your notice in until everything’s gone through and don’t be afraid to ring/email to chase.
