I am hoping to apply for a job that says that it is closing in 5 days but next to the job title, it says "see who they hired for this role" or something similar. Does that mean they have closed the advert in reality?

No. It means that they hired for the same role, or a role with the same name, in the past and that person has a profile where they list that role. It may be the current incumbent of the job who is leaving, or a peer of the job they're hiring for.

Oh thank you so much @GregBrawlsInDogJail . I have never used LinkedIn before- is it a credible platform for recruitment?

Yes. It's the only site I use. Most companies of any size hire through there.
