Stepping down from a project

After a lot of hard work I recently got promoted at work. During my time trying to prove myself, I became head of an ongoing project.

The truth is, is that this project fills me with dread and worry. Some people love it but it's not come naturally to me at all.

Have you ever given up on something at work when you're not a good fit for it?

I've never done this but definitely wanted to numerous times.

If it's affecting your mental health, then step down if you can.
I could never have stepped down from a project in my last place as it was a small company and if I didn't do it, no one would. So it wasn't an option.

Can you get support/coach from someone more experienced - you are fairly new to the role so you just might need a handhold. Dh is a consultant and he often comes across this with his clients - he will always try to provide them with support and guidance and a listening ear - making sure that the project doesn't fall on its arse and often giving someone the confidence to fly.
