I was told a few weeks ago that I’d been successful and that my start date was at start of June. I was told HR would be in contact within a week with contract so I waited. A week plus passed. I then contacted the person who had been in contact with me to say I’d received nothing. They confirmed start date was as they’d said and they said HR would be in contact soon. I waited and again nothing. Checked spam etc. Nothing. I contacted them again with not many days left to start date and got no reply. My responses were polite. It’s a government department so not some person’s business who has had a change of mind. There aren’t many working days left. All I’ve been given is start date and no idea of any other details. No start time, manager, department etc. I’m not sure what to do. If my start date comes I’m not sure about showing up as the place is a large employer with many sub departments etc and I haven’t been given any details of where I’ll be working.
Anyone experienced this before? How did it turn out?

Also I applied on official site and had interview etc so it’s not a scam.

Phone them rather than email?

I haven’t received anything with a number on it but I’ll try find a number for HR.

I had exactly the same thing with a civil service role and finally heard back from them with full details last week following lots of chasing.

Have you received a provisional offer, gone through pre-employment checks and then received a formal offer? If it’s a government department then I think this is standard?

Never worked for a government dept before so sorry if this is a stupid question, but didn't it say in the job description when you applied info about the role? IE you'd be reporting to the X manager, you'd be part of the Y department, doing Z tasks etc?

Wouldn't you be able to go to the main reception and give the details you have along with your hiring managers name?

Have you had the offer in writing?
