Anyone good calculating annual leave?

balletmuffin · 31/05/2022 08:39

Leave starts on 1 January. 30 days for the full year including public holidays. Out of that leave 2 days for Christmas and 2 for New Year are to be included so basically 26 to do with as you please.

I left on 8 May. I have my calculation but the old employer are disputing it. Could anyone give me their calculations so I can compare?

Thanks very much.

18 weeks worth so 10.4 days, rounded up to 11.

From which you deduct any leave you have taken including bh.

What are the New Years days? 1st/2nd or 31st/1st

Smartsub · 31/05/2022 08:46

I make it 10 days, less whatever you've had.

4/12 × 30. I don't think Christmas and New Year should be deducted, as you haven't had them.

For the 8 days in May, it depends on your policy. For some employers it will be only whole months that count, hence 4/12.

Thank you.

I am in Scotland so we get 1 and 2 January as public holidays.

Don't forget to take off the bank holidays - Monday 3rd January, Friday 15th April, Monday 18th April and Monday 2nd May as you have said they are included in the calculation. So that would have left you with 6 days to take when you wanted to.

Ah, you are in Scotland, so 5 bank holidays to be taken off.

Thanks. We worked all of those days. We didn't close.

I get 10 days, minus whatever you have taken, as you have worked 4 full minths of the leave year.
