I have been offered a new job starting 20th June. I was offered it a while ago due to needing to give a 3 month notice period to my current job.
The new job is a Remote contract and I was told that they would arrange to courier all of the required equipment.
When would you expect to hear about the delivery of IT equipment? I have my offer letter and contract but worried they’ve forgotten about me because of how long ago I was offered the job. I have heard nothing since the end of March when I was offered the role.
Feeling twitchy now as I’ve handed in my notice

We send our IT equipment out just before the person starts. The day before or the Friday before the Monday so they can be on boarded quickly.

I would contact them. They could use an outsourced IT department.

One time, I was sent equipment at just a start date being set and would have had the equipment at least 3 weeks before the job began, to the other extreme of receiving on a Saturday night (had to stay in all day as the window was an all day one) before the job commenced on a Monday.

I keep worrying they’ve changed their mind and don’t want to hire me anymore. I’ve signed a contract so hopefully they wouldn’t do that. I think I won’t feel settled until everything is arranged. At the moment this job feels too good to be true and I’m waiting for it all to go wrong.

I started in a new job recently. Kit arrived 3 weeks after I started. Had to muddle through on personal devices in the interim, which was horrid

summer712 · 27/05/2022 20:43

I start Monday my stuff arrived today!

UghFletcher · 27/05/2022 20:57

We send all our new starter kit out to arrive the day before. There's absolutely no harm in asking for details of what will happen and when!

Wasn't the NHS was it? I waited over a month. My phone still doesn't work, it has been 10 weeks now 🙄

Regularsizedrudy · 27/05/2022 21:17

They probably won’t send until very close to or on your start date in case you are a no show (happens more often than you’d think). Then they’d have a nightmare getting it back. Just send them an email and ask for a rough time line so you can prepare.

YellowLego · 06/06/2022 17:09

Now 2 weeks until I start and the company haven’t responded to my emails and I can’t get through to an actual person to talk to. I’m a bit more than panicking now. 😭

2 weeks is a bit early to expect the equipment, ime. I would wait till end of next week to check.
Don’t panic. Is it not a credible company?

KatherineJaneway · 07/06/2022 05:46

Two weeks is far too early for equipment to arrive. If you start on a Monday, I'd say the earliest you'd receive the equipment is the Thursday before.
