NCed for this just in case. I work in projects for the NHS and was hired through an agency. As such I don't have some of the same protections of a regular NHS employee,
It was made clear to me before I went on Maternity leave that there was a possibility my job would no longer be available to go back to. However they would temporarily fill my role in my absence and if it was available and, as long as it was, I would be able to have it back and the other person then either kept on in an additional post or let go so I could have my job back. They said that the moment they knew more they would let me know so I wouldn't get the shock of coming back in September to be told I have no job and ergo no money coming in.
Sock horror, they didn't. I approached them last week, assured that my job was safe as no news was good news, to be told that I no longer have a position with them and to return their equipment. If I hadn't approached them I highly doubt they would have told me as aledgedly they have known for months. I have since found out also that the person they hired as my temp cover is being kept on.
I know that as I am agency they can basically give any reason not to have me back, but I am not sure where to go from here. I've got 3 months to find another job or I am financially fucked. The past 3 days I've been applying for similar roles but again, because I was agency and not direct NHS staff I didn't get put on the Change Management Course or Prince2 course that my colleagues did and therefor don't have the qualifications needed for most projects roles, despite the extensive experience I have in projects. I have studied for both and am ready to take exams but don't have the money right now, especially as I now no longer have a job come the end of August. I was also training in Web Dev knowing that I would still have a job to go into to give me time to get the languages down before I started applying for Dev jobs, however now this has happened I no longer have capacity to do so as I need money and there is no guarantee I will get a Dev job right away.
I'm not really sure what I am asking but any advice would be wholeheartedly appreciated!
