To feel left out by clique

a little rant…

I work between two teams at work but work with them on a very regular basis, however I always see each of these two groups going out on social media. For example, one of them in one of the groups had wedding this year and I was the only one not invited.

in one of these groups there is someone that started at the beginning of this year, and has already made it into the clique they do things outside of work and have even been away together.

Firstly, do you even want to go out with them? Or just want to be invited?

At my old place, all the women would go out together and I'd never be invited. Although it would never bother me as I wasn't keen on socialising with them outside of work anyway.

And we had one guy get married who basically invited the entire office bar 2 of us. Again, I wouldn't have gone anyway.

I've been working at a new place for the last year and feeling something similar. A couple of days ago I was leaving something on someone's desk and their phone lit up with 'place of work social' messenger group I felt gutted. Not quite sure how to move forward now with people! It may have been created before I started there but still hurts that no one has thought to add me!

I do understand how you feel. It can be quite isolating. I've come to the stage where I'm pleased to be left out, it stops me having to make excuses 🙂
