Back to teaching in the state sector; salary?

After several years of teaching in an independent school, I have an interview to move to an LA-maintained one. My salary at the independent school is £35K, after 5+ years of teaching - but of course, the structure of the pay scale is different, so I have no idea how to compare it to the national MPS. Where on the MPS would I end up - and do I have the right to negotiate in an LA-maintained school?

yes you can negotiate. I’d ask to join on M6. Typically it’s a jump up per year on the MPS so you should be thereabouts anyway.
