Ideas for Self employed?

I resigned from my hospitality job last December because I had some ongoing family issues and health problems. I continued to do some part time jobs at least to have some income.
I'm feeling better now, pretty much everything is sorted and I strongly believe I should be self employed. I have arthritis which is progressing really fast so for me would be ideal to do my"rota" by myself. I also have 2,5years DS and we struggling with childcare- there are no extra places at our local nursery, my husband doing mixed shifts.
So my idea is- to do some kind of training and start my own "business". I could manage with childcare and my arthritis much easier than in any "contract" job.

But the problem is- I have no idea what I would like to do! I used to work as a housekeeper but I can't do it anymore, my knees are killing me. To be honest I'm really bad at beauty, so no manicures or make-up. Any suggestions? What else I could do? I have a spare room at home as well.

Thank you!

I am self employed. I work as a marketing consultant in a small industry. I was doing the same work before I became freelance. It's usually best to do what you are already expert in and have contacts, in particular people who are willing to give you work.

It’s not just about what you can/want to do though
its about what there is a real need for and whether you can convert that need to a genuine profitable business
Being SE can bring flexibility but it’s not an easy option at all
