What would you think if a job vacancy was recently advertised and is now open again?

I've found a really interesting role to apply for and googling something noticed it had previously been advertised with a closing date and interviews February this year. Now there's a new advert with a closing date this month.

Is it just one of those things that could be any number of reasons, or should I read something into it? Did they hire someone in February who has already left, within a month or so of starting? Or maybe their top candidate that time withdrew?

There's also a very small change in the JD, with one particular aspect/skill given less emphasis in the current advert. (Actually works out better for me because it is my weakest area of all the things they ask for!) Maybe they didn't find the ideal person in February? Although that's less likely as it's a really interesting role with a good salary.

It's in the higher education sector but not teaching related.

I got my job at interview. Turned out it was the third time it had been advertised as they just didn't find a suitable candidate. Fingers crossed it works out for you.

This happens quite a lot where I work 🙄
it is cos our vetting takes sooo long to do, by the time they have been cleared to do the job, they have usually found something else.
