Can you decline job after already accepting

My start date is 4 weeks away. I have already signed a contract subject to reference checks. But in the meantime I’ve been offered something much better paid and with more flexible hours. Is the contract binding or can I pull out now?

It happens all the time. Of course you can change your mind.

Yes. I've done it a couple of times and had it done to me a few times as a manager. It's life

You can pull out, where I work we have people pull out. Either they do 1 shift then never come back.

Of course you can. Be professional and let them know. And yes, it happens all the time. Congratulations on your new job OP

Tell them sooner rather than later and thank them too for accepting your application in the first place. Basically leave on really good terms if you can.

Best of luck in your new new job!

Of course you can.

Great position to be in! Of course you can pull out, the only downside is if you think you might want to work the in the future, you may have burnt a bridge. But you needto take the job that is right for you now.
