Please could someone advise.
I was suspended from work. An investigation is going on. I won't go into detail into the actual details of the business. I have been with this company for 15 years and my work has been exemplary.
Prior to being formally suspended I was told 'on the quiet' by my manager what the details of issues were. Further information was then shared with me following the suspension by same person 'off record I shouldn't be telling you this' kinda thing. 'We've not had this conversation' 'don't tell anyone' Following my suspension I asked HR if I could be told any other details of allegations - I was told absolutely no.
So that confirms to me that my manager has seriously breached confidentiality by sharing details with me.
I've been told by a union rep that the details of actual allegations should NEVER have been shared with me prior to suspension as this immediately flaws the investigation AND that my manager has breached confidentiality from the offset. Sharing information with me which has now made the situation so much worse.
Has my manager committed a serious breach?
I guess I'm just seeking further guidance from anyone with knowledge of this type of thing.
