Chasing up an interview outcome

I interviewed for a job last Thursday. It would be a pretty competitive role so not really expecting to get it but I feel like it went as well as it could and I would be a credible candidate.
I asked at the time when I would hear back and they made a big deal about how it would be 'Monday latest' as they were definitely working on the bank holiday.

I would imagine that I probably haven't got it, but would it be too soon to chase it up considering they made a point about saying it would be yesterday? Don't want to be annoying but would like to know either way

I don’t know @YingMei but I’m in the same boat. Also had a job interview Thursday and was told I would hear by Monday. It’s enough to make you crazy isn’t it? I just need answers. Hope you get a positive response. I think I’ve decided I will wait until tomorrow afternoon and then send an email. Hopefully that’s not too pushy.

I think following up tomorrow would be reasonable OP.
Best of luck @YingMei and @OrlaOrlaOdla! (I hope you didn't both go for the same job😉)

@OrlaOrlaOdla sorry you're in the same boat - it is frustrating. I wouldn't be so bothered if they hadn't made a big deal about how they would get back on the Monday!

@GeorgesMarvelousCalpol thanks, I will follow up tomorrow afternoon if still nothing.

I'm pretty sure that if they wanted me they'd have let me know by now but it would be nice to have confirmation so I can mentally move on

They might have offered it to someone else and are waiting for a response from that person, which is why they haven't said anything to you yet...

YingMei · 03/05/2022 20:51

@cloudjumper I hadn't thought about that. I guess this could be the case

Following up would definitely be reasonable now. I'd always say it's worth asking if it would be possible to receive some feedback if you have been unsuccessful. That's gone down well for me in the past and I've learnt a lot.
