Hi, applying for a post that lists ECDL or equivalent - does anyone know if this can be experience as the equivalent?

It depends what level - if Advanced/core it’s equivalent to an a-level. This should help

No harn in saying what your equivalent experience is, especially if its expert use of the apps taught in ECDL. Its a while now since I was involved in this but we were told all out staff had to do it (NHS community clinical) we looked at the content and price and the amount fo time staff would have to take out of work and said hell no, we would send them on courses to learn the bits they needed if it was necessary.
I guess it depends what the job is....but if they have just said "ECDL" it sounds like the person who wrote the post details doesn't know either, its now the ICDL and is divided into 3 levels so they have used the wrong name and should have identified which level they are looking for. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Computer_Driving_Licence

Thanks for the replies, really helpful. :) I was just wondering if the equivalent would give wiggle room for experience or if I would miss the shortlist for interview entirely by not having it all.
