Notice period and sick pay

I was working my notice and due to finish my job today, however, I had an accident on Tuesday (whilst working offsite).

It looks like I am going to be out action for at least six weeks and unable to drive.

Does anyone know if I am eligible for any sort of sick pay? I don't have another job lined up.

I was planning to phone ACAS but they're not open until Tuesday.

If you are unemployed you don’t get sick pay so, I’d assume that, after today, there won’t be anyone to pay you sick pay iyswim.

You may, depending on the circumstances of the accident & the level of injury, be able to claim for your injury from your current employer but, as you don’t have a job to go to, there won’t be any loss of earnings to claim for.

What were you going to do for money after finishing in your job today?

There’s a link down the page about benefits you may be entitled to if you are not entitled to sick pay.

If you’re not employed you won’t get sick pay.

You may be able to claim esa.

Thanks everyone, I thought that was the case. Just thought I would check anyway.

Job was low paid and not really suitable long term so I was just planning to get back to my original career and temp in the meantime. Guess I will just have to put those plans on hold for a bit.

I'm okay for money thankfully.

I think it is worth you contacting DWP to see if they will pay ESA as you are signed off sick. Some benefits are not means tested as they are based on having paid NI. It’s worth a phone call as the worst they can say is No.
