How do you go about finding a job when you've been a sahm for 10+ years and never had a job before that?

If you have never worked, I'd look into a retraining/back to work scheme locally as these will sometimes guarantee an interview with an employer. Also look out for recruitment days at local firms which say they are willing to train people who may not have experience.

Start at the bottom and work up.

We just had a dinner lady ask to become a teaching assistant - the head teacher bit her hand off. She could decide to become a teacher after that, or go down the SEN route as a TA.

In my previous role, admin staff would jump across to the sales team and go from £15k to £50k!

It’s hard to know what to suggest without knowing a bit more about you. But, if you happen to be extroverted, sales/recruitment/estate agent might be a good option.

Do you have qualifications?
