Not being paid

I’ve posted before about work issues, I’m temping and due to issues at work with systems we cannot fully operate. Been told not to login and work and as such I’m not being paid..:it has gone on much longer than anticipated and means zero income. Any advice? Agency no use and saying that is the lot of temps no work equals no pay ! But this isn’t my fault I want to work but the fault is the company’s...I think they should pay something but are refusing ...any advice much appreciated

If you are a temp, can you change jobs?

LotusCheesecake · 30/03/2022 19:13

Report them for National Minimum Wage violations, potentially

How long has this been going on?

jesusmaryjosephandtheweedonkey · 30/03/2022 20:18

Get a different job!
Don't log in. Don't work for free and report them

Kitkat151 · 30/03/2022 20:30

Move to another temp job?

ilovebrie8 · 30/03/2022 21:35

Yeah I will look around. I thought they’d pay something as not my fault I can’t work...it’s the company’s issue

If the OP isn't able to work there is no NMW violation.

@ilovebrie8 - I'm afraid your agency is right. It doesn't matter who is at fault. If there is no work for you, there is no pay. Sorry.

LotusCheesecake · 01/04/2022 15:29

Agreed if no work then it isn't an NMW issue - I had read this as been asked to not login but then work (which clearly would be a problem)

ilovebrie8 · 01/04/2022 18:09

We are available and want to work, the issue is with that company it’s their fault as such. We are being asked to wait and not go elsewhere but we aren’t being paid and have lost over a week’s wage...promised it would be sorted each day and still not fixed ...

I understand that. Unfortunately, as temp staff paid hourly, it makes no difference who is at fault. If you are unable to work, you don't get paid. However, they can't stop you going elsewhere. They can ask but you don't have to comply.
