I've been a SAHM for 5 years. First day at my new job tomorrow!

I have only worked in supermarkets and call centres. 3 different places over a course of 7 years (18 to 25) when I had my first child. I had my 2nd just under 2 years later.
I only went and got myself a job as a library assistant!
It's my first day tomorrow and I am so excited and nervous.
I'm not even 100% why I'm sharing, I'm just really proud that I pulled it off and will be doing something worthwhile for myself and my local community.

Amazing, well done OP- very hard to get a job as a library assistant so guessing you're awesome and will be fab! I was a library assistant as a student and I absolutely loved it, can be hard work but rewarding and really enjoyable with a good variety; all these best and hope you enjoy it!

I remember my first day back at work after being a sahm. It was great. Getting paid wages again also felt like the best! I’m a Librarian at a school - I love it. Good luck!

It has been on my "list of jobs I probably couldn't get but would really love" since I was about 10.
I come from quite a poor background (also still quite poor) and spent a lot of time in my childhood in the library so I really do understand and appreciate the importance of them to the local community.
I love books (I'm aware it's a reason you aren't really supposed to use for working in a library, but its true).
But I think having years of experience in customer serving and face to face roles has really been the main contributing factor for me getting the job over other candidates.
Nonetheless, I'm excited and nervous and I really hope its not too much information overload as I'm sure 5 years of being a SAHM has probably turned some parts of my brain to mush and I need some adult conversation to retrain it!
