Hello Mellowma! When do you start??
I felt the same after 3 years off and strange home circumstances. It's natural to feel nervous, but once there you will probably love it because working takes your mind off all the other shit.
I think the only way to cope with the nerves is to think of all the pros of working and accept that you will be nervous, but think how great it's going to be. And if you hate it, you can always leave again.

Is there any way you can call in to your new place of work for half an hour on a day prior to starting? Is it the sort of job where you could do this. I did this with my job and it really put my mind at rest.

I did wonder what the hell i'd been cr**ping myself about.

Yes, very normal to be nervous, in fact,if you weren't I'd be more worried.....just make sure you have your morning toilet session at home before you leave...don't want to embarasse yourself like Custardo did today

I second the tip to try Bach Flower Remedy

Your brain won't freeze, well, not for long!

Admit to your new boss that you are really nervous and he/she should do their best to put you at ease.

write down on one side on a page all the positive things about going back to work.
Then write down all the negative things. Then look at which ones are external things (like ''I will enjoy the money'') and which factors are 'internal' things like ''I will feel scared''.
You will notice that most of the negative things are 'internal'....

We all feel like this about new sitations, eeryone at your workplace will have been a new person, worrying about will they like the pople and vice versa.
Tummy problems - take some immodium or whatever with you.

Learn to smile. (everyone likes a cheerful soul)

Learn to breathe properly (deeply through the nose, out through the mouth)

Wear a bracelet to fiddle with if neccessary.

Take a notebook and write stuff down, it gves you something to focis on and people will just think you're being dedicated and enthusiastic.

They will most probably give you a couple of days induction where nothing too strenous is expected of you.

Good luck, it may well be the making of you x
