I have been in my current post for less than 6 months, I really thought I was going to be working in a supportive environment but the reality is it seems quite toxic. Within a few weeks of starting I was told about previous employees performance or lack of and there have been a lot, which I wasn't aware of . My boss has also threw my under the bus on a number of occasions now, for things not even in my remit. So definitely time to move on, I have an interview coming up and just not sure how to explain wanting to move..?

Your current job doesn’t offer opportunities for moving forward in your career, doesn’t stretch your abilities.

You saw a better opportunity with the new company. We're all allowed to go for something if we get the chance, and being at your current place for only a short time doesn't stop you being ambitious.

Always put it in terms of being excited about the new opportunity, never talk about why you want to leave current role.

If it's only one short tenure after a number of longer tenures, I wouldn't worry too much. Briefly say the job wasn't as discussed and that you're excited for this new opportunity.

"I'm really excited by xxx job for xxx reasons. Of course, as you rightly point out, I haven't been in my current post for very long. But sometimes the right job comes up when the timing isn't perfect and you know that applying is the right thing to do. You'll see from my cv that I have stayed in my previous jobs for a minimum of xxx"

Or something like that but a bit less long winded?

I think you might have my old job!

These are all reasons why I have left jobs:
Fixed term contract
Maternity contract
Project completed, therefore role no longer existed
Organisational restructure
My area of company sold off
