Appraisal

I have my appraisal soon, and Ive been asked to prep the documents and fill in the review and reflect sort of stuff and im struggling.

I have not had an appraisal since 2019, management has broken down the same as my job role and the stuff that mattered before isn't really applicable now. We have not had any performance objectives, but she's been asking us all to fill an 11 page document in on it all! This isn't just due to covid either, my manager has not bothered to come on site at all for two years and she's lazy and poor.

I am looking for a new job, I do not feel proud to work with my company and there is nowhere to go either because we are all kept down. I cannot progress in my role. I have been doing training in my own time in the evenings for the past few months to try and bridge the gap between my job and the role above mine (in a different sector) because if I don't do anything soon I will be unemployable.

Can I leave most of this document blank? And would this be an opportunity to be honest and tell my manager how poor and unsatisfied i feel in my job?

Leave it blank and discuss it with her at the meeting.

Course you can. Some state that if you feel you met the targets nothing else is needed. Though where I've worked before this was never the scenario.

But, if no targets are set how can you review against them, unless they literally have set targets that are merely tweaked?

Given you need a reference to move on, I think that I'd just play the game, minimally and not spend too much time on it.
