I'm currently 6 months into a one year internal secondment and I hate it. There's been no substantial training and I feel like I'm constantly just keeping my head above water, trying to get all my projects etc completed and just hoping everything is correct as I haven't really been given any guidance.
Meanwhile a permanent role has become available in the same company on a project I've worked on before. I know I'm good at it and I love it. Without meaning to sound like a dick, I'm pretty sure I'd get the role if I applied based on my experience. I've checked my secondment contract and it's a one month notice to leave the secondment, which is fine, but not sure if that only applies to going back to my original role.
So my question is....can you apply for a different role halfway through a secondment? Would this reflect badly on me, would I appear to be messing my current dept around?
Any advice from anyone who has been in a similar position or been the managers in a similar situation?
