Lovely but strange card from work

I've applied for an internal promotion at work, had first stage interview today which went well considering the role is a step up. Should find out soon if I'm through to round 2.

Came home to a lovely card from the hiring manager line manager and their manager saying thank you for my hard work and all I did for the company etc. 2 paragraphs of lovely praise😀

Just wondering what to make of it and does this mean I'm in line for the new job... I'm on a contract that's due to end so I'm cynically thinking they want to keep me on but why the card before the interview process has concluded? Or should I disconnect the two events in my mind?

I'm delighted but confused!

I might be cycnical but that sounds like a softener for bad news to me. I hope I'm wrong.

Sorry, I agree with PP. I’d see it as ‘we think you’re really great in your current role

It sounds like a goodbye card if your contract is about to end...

Hope it's not!

Damn.... l thought the interview had gone well too.

Maybe they just want to keep my sweet until I can hand over to the more senior replacement

I hope it's good news for you OP 🤞🏼

My colleague got the exact same card.

Think it's a charm offensive as our contracts are all ending.

I felt special for a minute.... not so much now
