I took on a role just before covid hit, my industry shut down throughout covid so my training for approx. 80% of my role was halted. The training I could do I did really well and took ownership early on and I am still managing these really well despite many changes within the business and industry that have impacted them.
However, now that we are back at full capacity my MD is leaving me out of key meeting and business events. I have raised this with him before and asked if there was a reason/if my role had changed etc and he reacted very badly. Told me he is the expert and knows what he is doing.
However, I am now being sent to key meetings alone with no support before, during or after. I am not allowed to make key decisions based on these meetings because I don’t have sufficient experience but he won’t discuss the decision making because he wasn’t at the meetings.
I laid this out for him twice now showing the cycle I’m trapped in and again he reacted badly. Told me he didn’t have time to discuss this he is very busy with real accounts.
He is not an easy person to talk too, he is very arrogant and of the belief he is always correct. He got very angry with me for landing a large account because he had been unable to do so and made a comment asking what I had done to land it. He was intimating something untoward so I asked him to explain the comment. Again he huffed and puffed and walked away saying he was busy.
I have also tried emailing but he refuses to acknowledge emails so won’t respond. He says he has received it but will not be drawn other than to say he hasn’t time to reply to every email.
Do I attempt to make this work or find a new role where I can receive support and move on in my career. All of this is leaving me feeling worthless and like I am of no use other than his admin person when I know and I have proven I can do so much more.
