Civil service-when will i hear back?

Hello, i already work for the civil service. I applied for a grade higher than mine, it had 100 posts. I was invited for a pre-recoded interview which i sent off a week ago. Have still not heard anything. The jobs portal hasn't been updated yet either, says booked in for interview still. How long does it take if there are alot of posts? Thanks in advance!

When was the closing date? I'd say it's unlikely you will hear anything until after the closing date. With 100 posts they are likely to get hundreds of applications. It'll differ dept to dept, but I'd imagine they'll have a chunk of time blocked out shortly after the closing date for multiple staff involved to assess the applications in one go.

PaniniHead · 24/02/2022 18:09

I’d say (based on experience as a civil servant) about 6-8 weeks after the closing date

PaniniHead · 24/02/2022 18:12

Sorry- 6-8 weeks after the last video interview date

Worrieralways · 24/02/2022 18:31

Thanks guys. So the closing date for application was 11/02. However i had to do the online tests which i did on the 5/02 and was aked to send a pre-recorded video interview by 14/02. Which i sent on the 09/02. The only problem is , i don't know when the last interview deadline is or was 😔

@gimmeavino, the reply stating the dates was for you by the way, as you asked! 😊

What's a recorded interview,?

MarianosOnHisWay · 24/02/2022 19:49

Is it HMRC, OP?

MarianosOnHisWay · 24/02/2022 19:50

@Neolara

What's a recorded interview,?
You have to login and record yourself answering the interview questions. You only get one chance to record- you can’t re-record if you mess up. Then you send it in and they watch it, not live.

Just my experience but it took nearly 2 months after my interview to hear back, that was also part of a big interview campaign

Goonergirl14 · 24/02/2022 20:17

I am in a similar position, I did my pre-recorded interview last Thursday and am just waiting on a response, it is for DWP. My friend got her promotion and found out 2 weeks after her interview that she was on the reserve list and got her job offer not long after that. Good luck! I found mine a bit nerve wracking but was surprised I actually managed to complete it! Not hopeful but was definitely a good experience.

Worrieralways · 24/02/2022 21:47

@MarianosOnHisWay Yes HMRC

@Goonergirl14 Thank you, good luck to you too! It was my first time ever doing a pre-recorded interview, i was so nervous. Fingers crossed for us!

Good luck, my DH is waiting to hear too. It’s all so alien to me as a teacher myself I’m used to hearing whether I’ve been successful at interview on the same day!

mrsbyers · 24/02/2022 22:02

They will hold all of the recorded interviews then a panel needs to review each one and grade them / from that they select the people who are successful and possibly those on a reserve - it could take several weeks yet

Worrieralways · 25/02/2022 13:04

@MarianosOnHisWay Hi, just an update, i dont't know if your DH got an email but i did. Apparently won't hear of an outcome until Mid April due to high volume of applicants. I do have another interview, thankfully a live one, next Thursday. Let's see how that goes.

Thanks OP, he did indeed get the same email today! Such a long time to wait. Good luck with your other interview- do you mind saying vaguely what/where it is? (No problem if not!)

Worrieralways · 25/02/2022 13:34

@MarianosOnHisWay Yes it's a very long wait. Thanks! Still in HMRC, this one only has one post though. Let's see how it goes.

I applied for an HMRC role in October 2020. Finally offered the role in April 2021. Lots of different assessments and long waits in between. Quite wore me down and ended up declining because I'd lost enthusiasm for the role by then.

Good luck OP. Where are these 100 roles? I'm intrigued as to where everyone is going given the reduced estate.

Worrieralways · 01/03/2022 18:56

@Walkingtheplank Thanks, it is for HMRC customer service Team Leader apparently have 100 posts to fill. Won't know till April now.
