Interview question - “how would you pitch a new product”

I’ve got an interview next week with an insurance company for a marketing role and have to do a presentation on strategy, campaigns etc

One of the questions they’ve asked is “how would you pitch a new product”.

I’m tripping myself up a bit with this. Just to check - would you read this as how would I create a pitch - ie, market segmentation, competitor analysis, key messages, key target audience, product info etc etc. Or would you read it that they want me to actually create the pitch based on the limited info I have?

I think it's a very unclear brief. Can you check with the recruiter/HR manager?

I would take it literally, so how would you go about it. I wouldn’t expect you to actually do a dummy pitch. But as per previous poster, I think it would be reasonable to ask them to clarify.

I think it would be easier if you picked a "product" ie. Green loans with eco criteria, and worked from that. Identifying target market, positive advertising message, competition etc

This is what I think too!

I would start by saying something like - it would depend on the product and the target market..the chose one of their product that's easy to find a target market for and say how you would approach it.
