Waiting for interview outcome

The waiting after an interview is awful! I had an interview which included a presentation early last week and haven't heard anything yet. I'm assuming I haven't got it as they said they hoped to make a decision early this week but it would be good to know for certain so I can stop thinking about it!

Do you think a chaser email to HR would be a good idea or just not worth it and I'll obviously hear if by some chance I did get it?

If the interview was early last week, I think it would be OK to chase. Especially if they indicated that they would be letting you know early this week.

It might be that they have offered it to a preferred candidate and don't want to say no to you until that person has accepted.

Good luck.

Mammaslittlebakery · 17/02/2022 10:05

Thanks, I think I'll draft an email to the HR person who has been the contact for the interview and send it this afternoon if I still haven't heard anything.

More than a week I would definitely chase. I have recently been the recruiter and the one being recruited. I have to say some organisations are absolutely terrible and then act surprised when you've taken a role somewhere else after having not heard from them for two weeks!!

Fingers crossed for you 🤞🏻

fingersbossed · 17/02/2022 15:24

Can I join in. I've had one today. And now waiting...

fingersbossed · 17/02/2022 15:25

They said would know by next week, mid week... but maybe earlier. Suspect that means that they'll finish interviewing tomorrow and make a decision tomorrow or monday...? Day or two to chase up first choice etc before letting people know?

Quangoquandry · 17/02/2022 15:26

Wishing you all the luck in the world!

I was in the same position earlier this week and was unfortunately not successful so I have everything crossed that you are!

Have you heard yet... fingers crossed for you x

If it's for the civil service then looong delays are totally normal!

Mammaslittlebakery · 17/02/2022 17:04

Haven't heard anything yet but my friend convinced me not to chase up yet!

Think I'll wait till lunchtime tomorrow and then send an email anyway, it's only going to the HR department so can't hurt.
It's a position in a uni which I know can be notoriously slow but as they said this week I was hoping to have heard something by now... unless it's the HR department that's slow to get back to candidates not the interviewers slow making the decision!

@fingersbossed hope you don't have to wait too long, the wait is so frustrating isn't it?

Yes! Awful. Hope you hear soon! I've had some experience of unis. Very variable In terms of replying. Also, at the moment some people are delaying their interview due to Covid, so it may be that theyve had to wait for people. Very common now. So it delays everyone hearing - even the successful candidate!

Mammaslittlebakery · 17/02/2022 18:06

I'm trying not to get my hopes up by thinking no news is good news! My interview was all done online so unless other candidates were ill with Covid rather than just having to isolate then I'm assuming all the interviews went ahead.
I haven't been very impressed with the HR department so far though so could definitely be them causing the delay!

It's a horrible process isn't it. I had one yesterday but found out today I hadn't got it. I was offered another job verbally about three weeks ago and still not one email from HR so I chased that up today and they realized nothing had been initiated, then sent a flurry of emails demanding lots of paperwork etc. They were apologetic but it's not great. I've got a couple more interviews next week but feel like just giving up now as the whole process is just so stressful.

If it helps. I was ill with covid and had to delay over a week. They waited. My name was never in the job, but they honoured my interview. I guess all of those that interviewed over a week before had to wait for their answer. My friend also waited almost two weeks to interview a candidate recently due to them being ill with covid. At the moment it's happening a lot.
fingersbossed · 18/02/2022 09:10

Not this role, that was for an interview a few weeks ago.

Mammaslittlebakery · 18/02/2022 21:00

I sent the email today to the HR contact who emailed me about the interview etc and got an automatic out of office reply so that could be the reason for the delay if they've been off most/all week. I'm kind of pleased I don't know for certain I haven't got it yet as it would put a real downer on the weekend 😂

Any news? I'm still waiting. Not hopeful.

Mammaslittlebakery · 21/02/2022 15:47

No email reply and nothing in the post either which I was kind of expecting. Unless they're still deciding or waiting on a candidates response to an offer I think not getting back to people who have attended an interview is so wrong and really rude.
I'm going to wait until Thurs/Fri and then just email the main person who interviewed me and ask for feedback.
Hope you hear soon @fingersbossed

Finally heard back today, didn't get it. Still really disappointed even though I was expecting it. I've asked for feedback which will hopefully be useful next time.
Have you heard yet @fingersbossed?

I had an interview today and am waiting. They said it could be 2 weeks. Normally I can tell if an interview has gone well but this one was just a bit weird!

Oh no am really sorry. That’s not good. Onwards and upwards. Hopefully feedback will be helpful. But gutting all the same Flowers
fingersbossed · 22/02/2022 21:48

I’ve not heard. Mine was through an agency. The agency rang today to see how I felt it had gone. Thought that was odd. Is that usual. They said they’ve not had feedback from the company yet. Confused.

fingersbossed · 27/02/2022 15:54

I didn't get it Confused

Twitterwhooooo · 27/02/2022 16:13

Oh, I'm sorry fingersbossed. It's really gutting.
