Job offer help

I’ve applied for a few new jobs recently. The first time in 16 years being interviewed and applying.

Job one was a sort of verbal with a firm I know and I know the director well. He said I would be a good fit and would email me this week with terms and conditions and he hoped they would be agreeable with me. Nothing so far. Interview was at 5 pm on Friday last week and I know he’s got 2 other people to recruit at the same time and he said he’s got a bit of juggling to do to make sure everyone including current staff are in the right place.

Secondly, I interviewed for a job on Monday and I’ve missed a call from them while driving home this evening. I know it was between me and one other who was interviewed today. I am not sure how that one has gone. All the manager said was he would call me later this evening as he wanted to give me feedback. I tried to call him back but no answer.

I also have a job interview on Monday that I am really keen to attend. I suspect this is going to be a 2 part interview as the first part is very short via teams so I think if shortlisted, a second in person interview may be agreed but I don’t know that for sure.

I am keen on both 1 and 2 but don’t want to jump at the first thing. I’d really like to see what is said on teams on Monday but how do you keep other potential employers waiting. Don’t get me wrong, job 2 could very well be a no when I speak with the Manager. Job 1 may have changed their mind. Neither job’s terms might be suitable when they come to me in writing. I am just not sure what to say if and when calls or emails come in and I get formal offers. Can I do or say something to stall an acceptance?

Can anyone help?

It's perfectly reasonable to say you'd like a few days to think about their offer!! People do that all the time in my place!

Thank them for their offer and say you are very pleased and say you will confirm your acceptance once you had read the terms and conditions.

Good luck and hope you get what you want.
