Have I made a big mistake?

Hi, hoping for some advice.

I applied for a job on Tuesday. The company recruiter called me on Wednesday and invited me for an interview. They asked if I could do Friday, I advised I could not as I would already be working. I advised a certain day would be better. They called me back and asked if I would be willing to do an evening slot. I advised yes, they said it would likely be next week, so far so good.

They called me back today and said 5.30pm tomorrow and I agreed.
BUT, my current employer require me to be in the office tomorrow and my finish time and location means I would not make the interview time!

I’ve asked to rearrange as i do not believe that dropping my current work commitments i.e pulling a sicky, would be professional of me.

Have I made a huge mistake in asking? Should I just have called in sick? I cant get leave af short notice as my manager is not in

Any advice? Have I blown it?

What’s your work day like for timings?

It really depends on the individual(s) tbh. Cannot you tell your employer you need to leave early for an apt and make up the time?

9-5, hybrid but need to be in the office tomorrow, for reasons unknown.

I asked, but it was denied due to be too short notice.
Bummer.

Just to add, I did ask if I could work through my lunch but was still no.

Well, there's nothing you can do about it so try not to worry. If the interviewers get arsey about your request they're probably not right for you anyway.
