Civil service job

Hi

This is about a written exercise for a civil service job. I am wondering if anyone has experience writing a short briefing to a senior civil servant or minister and can help me with the structure of such a briefing.

Thanks a lot for helping.

There is usually a summary section with one line against each

Issue/financial implications/media/recommendation

Then a para or two with more detail against background / advice / recommendations

Make sure your recommendations are justified within the submission and only relevant information is included.

Keep it brief - short sentences and plain English

Sorry - a paragraph or two on each of background, advice, recommendations

Recommendations should be short and give the minister or senior civil servant clear actions they should take. Advice is more detailed

Make sure you include costings if that info is provided.
