Applying for several jobs at the same time

I'm looking to return to work after having children.
I've applied for a job but there's several others that I've just seen- all have similar closing dates. My concern is what if I get a job offer but I'm still waiting to hear from others and I want to wait? What do I say? (Obviously this is assuming a get any offers of employment)
How do you juggle this?

Apply for every job you're interested in.
If you accept one and get another one, you tell them exactly that?!

If you want one job the most and get an offer from another one, you tell Desired Job you have an offer on the table and can they speed up their timeframe? If they can't, you decide whether you are willing to accept Backup Job and whether you could countenance burning that bridge by walking away if Preferred Job also comes through.

It’s a very fine juggling act of building and burning bridges.

I’m currently doing just this, just apply and juggle it as it comes, no point potentially missing out on other opportunities.

If you get an offer but you’re still in the process with another one you’ll just have to weigh it up - will they give you say 24hrs to decide maybe and push the other along, or if you’ve not had the other interview yet is it worth risking losing an offer for a job you might not get?

Apply for everything you want to and figure out the next stage if you have an offer. I have recently moved roles, verbally accepted an offer and got a last minute call from a recruiter who had the perfect opportunity for me. I interviewed twice in a day, had the offer that evening, they knew I had another offer on the table. The original firm have come back to me 4 months later and reoffered.

Hold out for what you want.

Ok thanks- I'm so out of practice, the last job I applied for was over 15 years ago.
I will put in all my applications and see what poos up. It's kinda nervy and exciting!
