How do I do it?
I have returned to work after over ten years absence. The only job I have been able to get is retail for min wage part time.
In my past working life I have a degree and I worked as an executive assistant to VPs at a corporate level. But all the got taken away by my family situation: moving twice for XHs job, and also XH refusing to take any DC (two with ASD) responsibilities at all making it impossible for me to work. DCs were off school half the time! I am now divorced!
I feel I have no hope of getting an office job again as my CV shows a massive gap and then retail work! I can't make it past the computers. I have tried networking but always get told, 'just apply online'. I think I only got my current job because the cvs went past human eyes, but that is pretty rare nowadays.
There is no room to move up where I am --- most of the employees are actually older (55+) and refusing to retire because they will be bored. Fine for them, but it doesn't help my situation. So I need to get out.
Any suggestions how to fix this?
