Organising a leaving collection online

We are all still working remotely, and one of my team is leaving, so I want to organise a leaving collection for them. I've just done a search and it looks like there are a lot of companies offering that service, but I was wondering if anyone had any experience of them which they could recommend?

We've had lots of people leave/retire during covid and our work always seem to use paypal.

We use thankbox. It is easy to set up - you pick a card design and decide when the card and voucher will be emailed to the individual. The money collected is given in the form of a gift voucher and the recipient can choose to convert the voucher into a voucher for an outlet of their choice (I organised one before Christmas and the recipient chose Amazon). It costs £4.99 when you set it up; colleagues can then give money if they wish, or just sign the online card. When you set the card up you can generate a link which you can then email to other colleagues.

You get a couple of reminders as the deadline approaches and another once the card has been sent.

I set one up this morning and I won't have to do anything else with it if I don't want to. Having paid the £4.99, I won't contribute further to the gift - I am disappointed that this person is leaving!

Collection pot seems to be the go to one at our place

Have used collection pot a few times and it's worked well

I wouldn't be surprised if you get a low amount given.

I've had to do a couple of these online and I've got fed up with it. First person left, the sum total of £10 was given, next person it was £15. That's out of 50 odd people in the section that could chip in. It's just not worth it.

One of my colleagues has just had to do one and he's ended up with nothing donated to the collection.

A card and a goodbye for the next one I think.

We use Viing

We used Thankbox a few times too. We got a decent amount collected but you can do it without the collection if you just want a group card I guess 🤷🏻‍♀️ I just like the themes and the fonts 😁

We always use PayPal, really simple to organise

We use Viing too. It’s really flexible and free and easy to use except. The only charge is for a bank transfer but I always find a nice gift and voucher combo on there anyway - saves us a whole lot of time all round. I did have a look at other services but always come back to Viing. Highly recommend
