Is this required?

Work are pushing for this and whilst I don't mind I didn't think this was undertaken for pregnancy related sickness.

Maybe there are adjustments that can be made to support you? Will absence affect your maternity pay if during qualifying weeks?

PregEmployee · 26/01/2022 09:42

It's possible they think that there could be.

Absence is not near the 36 week mark so should not impact start of maternity leave/pay.

Qualifying weeks are around 4/5 months and smp for first 6 weeks is based on average earnings then.

I would presume it was to update your risk assessment & discuss reasonable adjustments that may help

I would imagine they would be more likely to want to talk to you when the absence is pregnancy-related, not less. Gives them a chance to ascertain if they can support you or adjust anything.

Hi, pregnancy related sickness does not count towards any limits on normal sickness days or periods you are not supposed to exceed. If you are off sick, 4 weeks prior to your expected due date, your maternity pay will automatically start.
If you keep having maternity sick time off, your manager / workplace may need to find out if there's anything they can do to support you or adjustments they can make. Had a workplace assessment been done.
I work in HR so happy to give you impartial advice but additional info would be handy Smile
