Applying for multiple jobs at one employer

Would you apply for multiple jobs at one employer in less than a year?

Last May I applied and was shortlisted as one of 3 applicants. I didn’t get the job but my feedback was all very good, no negative or constructive feedback at all.

September - I applied but didn’t get an interview

Now in January - I have seen another role which I would like to apply for.

Thing is - is this ok or will I look desperate and ridiculous? All three are different types of school admin roles. The school is very large, has a lot of staff, and in our town it’s a fairly big employer, but will HR think I am just apply to for anything and everything etc?

I want an admin role as it’s my background, Each role has been different and seems interesting in its own capacity - there has been roles come up at this school that have not interested me at all.

I really doubt they'll notice. If it's in the same team they may, but they probably wouldn't bat an eyelid.

Either way, make you sure apply. If you don't apply, you 100% won't get it. Good luck!

I got my job on my 5th application! Good luck.

I don’t work in a school but do work in a big organisation. I’d read this as you’re really keen to work here, wouldn’t be a problem.

Good luck!

They probably will notice that you've applied before, but that won't exclude you. Schools are very strict with recruitment for all staff, including admin or support roles. Applicants are shortlisted based on the application and how you meet the person spec. So, when applying, make sure that your statement shows that you meet the person specification. If you do this, then you stand a good chance of being shortlisted.....and then be given the opportunity to really show your stuff at the interview.

Obviously, depending on how many applied for the role will have an impact. There may just be people out there with more relevant experience, and you may not get through.
Having worked in schools for 15 years or so, the most I've seen shortlisted and interviewed in one go for an admin role is 6 (and that was for a very senior position). Often, only 3 or 4 are shortlisted.

Having said all that, do apply if you match the skill set they are looking for and fingers crossed that this role is the one for you.

Go for it. It’s fine. Good luck.

Fine!

It took me 2 years and about 5 applications to get into the organisation I wanted.
