On an average week DH goes in at 6am and comes home around 6:30. He also works for an hour or so in the evenings and several hours on the weekends at home. Its alot but we have a very comftorable lifestyle because of it.

fishie · 27/12/2007 16:19

about 9.30-6 mon-fri. self employed so no breaks durign the day. his studio is about 20 mins away.

Quattrocento · 27/12/2007 16:32

Well I work longer hours than DH but he works 9-5.30 Monday to Friday. He works one day a week at home. He also has flexitime so assuming he works an extra half hour a day, he will get time off in lieu. This adds up to an extra 12 days of holiday. He has six weeks to start with - excluding bank holidays - so I think he has a very cushy number.

MrsGrinch · 27/12/2007 16:47

dh works 2 days 8am - 7pm (11 hours each ) and two nights 7pm - 8am (13 hours each) then gets 3 days off.

He walks or bikes to work so with that facored in they are long shifts.

NomDePlume · 27/12/2007 16:51

Impossible to say. Mostly he works 8am-6pm (over his contracted hours) Mon-Fri, but then he also works away regularly and does stuff from home. It is impossible to tally it all up to a specific number per week. Sometimes it's a real pain, but it's the nature of the role.

Jinglejulezboobells · 27/12/2007 23:24

half 8 till 5pm everyday cept thur and fri he starts at 9, or supposed to but still goes in and half 8 and sometimes stays behind till 6pm

ibblewob · 27/12/2007 23:39

Leaves at 7:30-8am and gets back 6-6:30pm. Works in a bank so very regular. Really like his hours, but unfortunately the money is relative too!

Dh leaves at 8.50 3 days a week drops DS1 at school before going into work (at desk by 9.15)the other 2 days he leaves by 8.30am
He always takes a lunch break
Leaves the office at 6pm most days.
However he does project work so every 6 weeks or so he comes home and gets on the computer and works till 1-2am for a week-10 days.

hertsnessex · 28/12/2007 00:16

dh up at 5.30am, out at 6am, work by 7.30am - finishes at 6.30pm, home jsut before 8pm. thats on a good day, otherwise its 10/11pm.

Twinklemegan · 28/12/2007 00:18

Quattrocento - flexitime's fine in theory as long as you can ever find the time to take any of those extra days. Otherwise flexitime's just a great way for an employer to get away with never paying overtime, no matter how many extra hours are worked.

lalalonglegs · 01/01/2008 22:25

Dh rarely starts work before 2pm (leaves about an hour beforehand) which is great because there is always someone around in the morning to help with the dc BUT it does mean the evenings can be a little lonely as he does not usually get home before 10pm. On the whole, do prefer to have him around early on in the day to lend hand.

smurfgirl · 01/01/2008 22:29

At the moment he works full time over 4 days, doing a mix of 8.45-6 and 11.30-8.15 shifts. He works M, T, F, Sunday.

He starts a new job soon which is 8.30-5 M-F with weekends off.

BurpyErnie · 01/01/2008 22:47

Mines self employed so all day every day (he's had christmas off and I have started insising on a week in the summer like normal people do), PLUS he's in a band so thursday evenings and when ever he has a gig so about every other weekend (technically this is work as they sometimes get paid!)

LindzDelirium · 13/01/2008 21:30

DH leaves home around 7.30am home around 6-6.30pm. I work Mon/Wed/Fri 9.30am - 2.45pm and Tue/Wed 8am - 2.45pm.

Nymphadora · 13/01/2008 21:32

8-4.30 ish, one evening a monthish, and weekends off

JingleyJen · 13/01/2008 21:35

9-6 minimum 5 days a week.
often works from home evenings and weekends (he is working at the moment)

flowerybeanbag · 13/01/2008 21:59

Leaves home about 7.15 to get to work at 8.30, usually home by 8, quite often has to do a couple of hours in the evening or at a weekend. That's kind of 'normal' busy, if there's something big on that goes out the window.

Peachy · 13/01/2008 22:02

Until recently it was 4 days on, 4 days off on eitehr a 7 - 6 night shift or a 9 - 8 nightshift. It's just changed (thanks to flexible working and all that) to a more normal 5 days on, weekends (friday and Saturday night home) off shft, 9 - 6 nightshift. Easier with the boys.

flowerybeanbag · 13/01/2008 22:05

And rofl at cat64

fruitymum · 14/01/2008 17:01

7am - 7pm M,T,W,T plus oncall committments over F, S, S which can be a real pain if he gets called in.

babyblue2 · 14/01/2008 17:04

7.30am-6.00pm weekdays plus most Sundays.

TheIceQueen · 14/01/2008 17:06

average week DH works about 60-65hrs - "officially" it's only 37.5.

does his paperwork in the mornings (which isn't included in his hours - even though it HAS to be done properly!), then leaves the house around 11am - get home about 10pm.

Would be a few hours more each week if I didn't do his route planning for him (again time which isn't included in his official hours).

HonoriaGlossop · 14/01/2008 17:23

DH works 8 - 4 Monday to Friday.

Leaves for work at 7am and gets back at 5

mrsmalumbas · 14/01/2008 17:26

DH leaves home around 7am, gets home around 7.30- 8pm. Some days he goes in a bit later. Once a fortnight he works from home on a Friday and then has the afternoon off (that's a new arrangement his boss suggested - we'll see if he does end up taking the time off or, as I suspect, working!). He does have a fairly long commute though, 20 mins drive to station and then 45 mins on the train. So his actual working hours are not outrageous.
