Fixed Term Contract End

Endoftheroad22 · 14/01/2022 20:13

I am coming up to the end of my 6 month contract which states that either party requires to provide the other with 3 months notice of termination.

I was told, about 7 weeks from the end, that the contract would not be extended/renewed.

Am I entitled to 5 weeks in lieu of notice or does the fact that it is a fixed term contract with an end date negate the notice clause?

Fixed term contracts end when they say they will (unless extended).

You're effectively given notice when they start as to when they will end!

The 3 months notice is for if they wish to terminate you earlier.

Yes, three months is only if they wish to end it earlier. You already know when the contract is going to end when you are given it.

You already knew it was fixed term Confused

Have you maybe not read the contract fully? Fixed term means it ends at the date stated without notice required. Notice is normally required if it’s ended earlier or if It’s extended with no end date.

Thank you all! Pretty much what you’ve all said is what I expected but just wanted to check.
