Any nail techs???

Hi all,

I'm wanting to go into nails, and eventually become a self employed nail technician, and I'm looking for some advice on where to start.

Are the nail courses online recognised by salons (to rent a chair and gain experience) as they are a lot of money and obviously I don't want to commit if it's not the correct/desired qualification.

Is it better to go down the beauty therapy route and get a basic knowledge of everything? Could I expect a salon to take me on with this sort of qualification?

Any advice on how/where to get started would be hugely appreciated ❤️

My friend recently started on this path. Her first step was a relatively simple / cheap gel nail course. She's then gave all her friends and neighbours free or heavily reduced gel nails and now she's slowly building a client base. She did have to fork out on the course and the equipment and she's not doing acrylics or anything super fancy and wouldn't be at a level to be hired by a salon. But she's not pretty busy and charges about £20/30 for a set of gels. So it's enough money coming in for her to consider the more expensive / complex courses. As it stands she's co side ring just staying doing gels as it fits with her young family and she doesn't face excess costs to do extra courses n
