Nursing as a single parent

Hi everyone
Im new to this and recently became a single parent with a one year old. I am a qualified nurse however have come to realise I can't juggle 12.5hour shifts and childcare on my own: unfortunately I have no help apart from my mum however she lives quite a distance from me.

Has anyone been in this position or used their nursing for a future career path? Looking for some advice on where to look

There are lots of nursing roles which operate in office hours or close to office hours. I haven’t worked on a ward/ shift system in the 15 years ive had kids!
For pay job security and flexibility I think trying to stay in the NHS would be sensible.
Alternatively you could try to negotiate regular or standard hours with a ward, so you can better plan childcare.

Not all nursing jobs are 12 hour shifts :)

Outpatients, General Practice, community, rheumatology, radiology.

Off the top of my head roles where you can use/ retain your nursing registration with no shift work eg Research nurse, CHC nurse assessor, Practice nurse, Breast screening, Blood donation service, many out patients services! There will be lots more.

I'm a single parent and a nurse, I worked in community nursing for nearly 15 years while my dd grew up. The hours were 8-4 or 10-6 and I used childminders, nursery and after school clubs. I had to work 1 in 4 wends and needed family to help with that.

I'm in a specialist role now (TVN) and it's normal office hours and no weekends or bank hols!
